Giardini-Naxos

Giardini-Naxos was our first stop in Sicily. Though we were all exhausted from our travels, we had to wait for our rooms to be ready. The rooms were quite nice, and ours had a nice view of the surroundings (the first four pictures above were taken from the balcony). From left to right, the partially collapsed circle next to the hotel, rooftops and coastline, Mount Etna when the clouds finally cleared just before we left, and the view of Taormina. The final picture is of the boats at the docks in town.

After some much-needed rest, on May 22 our first sightseeing trip was to nearby Taormina. On May 23 my mother and I skipped the optional trip to the Aeolian Islands and instead wandered around town. We went to the Archeological Museum and then wandered down through town. On May 24 we went on a trip to Piazza Armerina and the nearby Roman Villa. On May 25 we left for Palermo via Cefalu.
