IEEE Club Corner

by Matthew M. Lug - Newspeak Staff

Well, the WPI student branch of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) is finally getting its act together. We had a meeting last Wednesday, complete with food and guest speakers. Membership applications and drafts of our new constitution were distributed (to keep people busy while waiting for the pizza). Sue Foster, the Worcester County Section Student Activities Chair, discussed some of the interesting activities we could participate in on a local, regional, and national level. We also had two Technical Sales Representatives from Texas Instruments speak about TI's focus on DSPs, and about the technical sales field itself. They gave pens and stress balls to everyone who attended the meeting, and had a drawing for t-shirts and a TI electronic organizer.

As always, we'll be selling coffee, donuts, and bagels in the IEEE lounge, AK106, every weekday morning from 8 to 11. Anyone is welcome to hang out in the lounge, regardless of major. If you want more information about IEEE, need an application, or are just bored, send e-mail to ieee@ece.wpi.edu, or stop by the lounge.
